What is Hospice?
Hospice care focuses on the individual at the end of life, and their family. At Hospice of Southern Maine, we believe in doing everything we can to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. Striving to help each patient reach their goals at end of life, we work together to create an individualized plan of care with each of our patients. That includes support from family caregivers, loved ones, and our interdisciplinary team of clinicians.
Hospice provides individualized care and support for people with a life expectancy of 6 months or less (if the illness runs its natural course). Our dynamic team of professionals educates and supports caregivers to fulfill the role they want to have during this process.
Our Care
Home Hospice
The majority of our patients receive care where they currently reside—whether that's their home, assisted living facility, long-term care facility, or the hospital.
Gosnell Memorial Hospice House
When pain and symptoms can no longer be managed at home, Gosnell Memorial Hospice House is available for 24/7 inpatient care.
Caring Comfort Program
The Caring Comfort Program is a free, non-medical service for individuals with a serious illness who wish to improve their quality of life but are not yet eligible or ready for hospice.
Accessing Our Services
Our admissions team understands this can be a very difficult time. They are ready and available to answer your questions or ensure you or your loved one gets the prompt care you need.
