Our Services
Whether providing care in a private home, long-term care facility, assisted living facility, hospital or at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, we offer a full range of hospice services.
Our services include visits by a team of highly trained hospice employees and volunteers. These include physicians, nurse practitioners, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. We also provide bereavement services to loved ones for up to 13 months.
We coordinate pharmacy and durable medical equipment needs and put a comprehensive plan in place to manage all of the comfort needs related to the terminal illness.
Hospice of Southern Maine is licensed by the State of Maine and is a Medicare-certified agency. Medicare, MaineCare, many private insurers and community donations pay for end of life care at Hospice of Southern Maine.
Will someone come and live with me to take care of all of my needs?
Hospice is intended to support the family in providing care, but does not take over for the family. Employees and volunteers visit as often as needed, but do not provide all of the care in a home setting. In the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, the Hospice employees provide 24 hour a day care.
