Classes and Support Groups

Scarborough, ME - Daytime Bereavement Support Group

Hospice of Southern Maine is offering a daytime bereavement support group in Scarborough, Maine. This group is open to adults who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Participants will have the opportunity to share with skilled group facilitators and other group members. We ask that people try to attend every session. The daytime group will take place on 8 consecutive Thursdays, beginning August 5 and ending September 23, 2010. This non-denominational group will meet from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. St. Nicholas Episcopal Church at 350 Route One in Scarborough. The group will be facilitated by Carol Schoneberg, an experienced support group facilitator, and Leah Marshall, an LCPC intern at the University of Southern Maine.

Our support groups are designed to help individuals deal with feelings of sadness, grief, depression, and anger, as well as other issues of self-growth. Not a therapy group, this group will provide a safe, caring, and trusting environment where individuals can share their experiences of grief and loss.

Hospice of Southern Maine provides bereavement services to the community at no cost. The Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Programs of Hospice of Southern Maine are supported by grants and private donations.

Additional information may be obtained by contacting Carol Schoneberg at Hospice of Southern Maine at 289-3651, or cschoneberg@hospiceofsouthernmaine.org
